ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State diving squad made the trek to Ithaca on Sunday and finished with outstanding results.
Senior Christian Torres (Dunkirk) came away with a school record and NCAA qualifying scores for the second day in a row. Sarah Ficarro (Owego) also came out with an NCAA provisional score.
On the 1m, 11-dive event for the men, Torres' total of 509.60 set the Blue Devil standard and was an NCAA qualifying mark. His six-dive total of 317.75 in the same event was also a school record. Along with Torres, Shane Ammering (Canandaigua) finished second and Ryan Fuller (Endicott/Union Endicott) finished third in a Blued Devil sweep.
Torres also recorded an NCAA provisional score on the 3m board, totalling 482.30, in winning that event.
For the women, Ficarro recorded a 383.65 off the 1m board for the top spot. Heather Robin (Dansville) finished third in the same event.
Off the 3m board, Ficarro captured the title with an NCAA provisional qualify mark of 458.75. Robin was also runner up off the 3m board.
