(ECAC Women's Swimming & Diving Awards/Dec. 17, 2008)

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State senior diver Kelly Sponholz (Alden) has been named Division III Women's Diver of the Week by the East Coast Athletic Conference.

Sponholz merited the award with pool record dives Dec. 12 in a dual meet at Gannon University -- 247 points off the 1-meter board, 283.5 in the 3-meter event. Her efforts also earned her the weekly women's diving award given by the State University of New York Athletic Conference.

A six-time All-American, Sponholz has won all six SUNYAC diving competitions she has entered since her freshman year. She holds all the Fredonia State women's diving marks at both heights and has won ECAC weekly awards three other times, once each season: as a freshman on Jan. 30, 2006; as a sophomore on Jan. 5, 2006; and her junior year on Jan. 17, 2008.

The Blue Devils, headed to Florida for a semester-break training trip, return to competition Jan. 17 at Steele Hall against Nazareth and Ithaca colleges.
