FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State won the women's 400-yard medley relay on the first day of competition of the sixth annual Blue Devil Invitational at the Steele Hall Natatorium.
The quartet of freshman Emily Ginty (Chenango Forks), freshman Stephanie Andrasek (Parma, Ohio/Normandy), sophomore Juliana Walker (Frewsburg), and junior Morgan Reisch (Fairport) touched first in 4:10.74.
In other women's events Friday, Walker finished in a three-way tie for second place in 50-yard freestyle. Also swimming the 50 free, senior Taylor Kelly (Wading River/Shoreham-Wading River) was fifth, sophomore Renee Solly (Lockport) ninth, and freshman Elizabeth Schake (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) 11th.
On the men's side, Fredonia State was second in the 400-yard medley relay with the team of senior Derek Greiner (Angola/Lake Shore), senior Mike Seay (Grand Island), sophomore Zac Parker (Rochester/Brighton), and sophomore Matt Beebe (Rochester/Greece).
Also, Parker was eighth and junior Rob Sweeny (Fredonia) 11th in the 50 freestyle.
Swimmers and divers from 10 teams are back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday for preliminaries prior to finals at 5 p.m. The final two sessions are 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
