ITHACA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State divers Kelly Sponholz (Alden) and Christian Torres (Dunkirk) were winners off both boards Sunday at the Ithaca Diving Invitational.

Sponholz, a senior, and Torres, a junior, recorded NCAA provisional qualifying scores for 11 dives in each of their victories. Sponholz won the women's 1-meter springboard with 452.25 points and the women's 3-meter springboard with 481.75. Torres scored 454.95 points in the men's 1-meter and 467.10 in the men's 3-meter.

Among the other Fredonia State women competing, junior Heather Robin (Dansville) finished second in the 3-meter and fourth in the 1-meter, and freshman Bethany Jones (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) was fifth in the 1-meter and eighth in the 3-meter. Freshman Leanne Kies (Owego) and freshman Samantha Brethel (Floral Park/Sewanhaka) also competed.

On the men's side, senior Joshua Brewer (Canandaigua) was second in the 1-meter with 414.40 points and third in the 3-meter with 405.15 points (just 11 points short of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard). Also, freshman Shane Ammering (Canandaigua) was fourth in the 1-meter and fifth in the 3-meter, and freshman John Rodman (Livonia) seventh in the 1-meter.
