Women's tennis 

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Fredonia State fell to Cortland, 8-1, on the first leg of the Blue Devils' eastern trip to SUNYAC Pool Play, which landed them at the Binghamton Tennis Center.

Katrina Johnston (Fredonia), a freshman, earned her team's lone point with a victory in her No. 5 singles match vs. Cortland's Kristina Lazzaro, 6-2 and 6-1.

The Blue Devils were scheduled to meet Oneonta at 9 a.m. in Binghamton before traveling to Syracuse for a 3 p.m. match vs. Plattsburgh. Pool Play weekend for the Blue Devils concludes with a 9 a.m. Sunday match vs. New Paltz, also in Syracuse.
