Women's tennis

FREDONIA, N.Y.  -- Fredonia State netted its second win of the season, a 7-2 victory over D'Youville on the Steele Hall courts.

The freshmen duo of Katrinia Johnston (Fredonia) and Chelsea Mang (Lancaster/Depew) continued their singles success, and teamed for their first victory in doubles.

Johnston and Mang were joined in the singles win column by junior Anna Norris (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley), junior Calee Prindle (Geneva), and senior Megan Zarzycki (Rochester/Irondequoit). It was the second straight win for Norris, and the first by Zarzycki.

Also winning for the first time were the doubles team of sophomore Chelsea Ringen (Northport/Long Island Lutheran) and junior Stephanie Hale (Lockport/Starpoint).

Both Blue Devil losses came via tiebreakers -- senior Mallory Long (Canandaigua) in singles, and junior Jennifer Garwol (Rochester/Spencerport) and freshman Julie Kalita (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) in doubles.

The Blue Devils (2-6, 1-5 SUNYAC) return to conference competition 1 p.m. Saturday at Oswego.
