ITHACA, N.Y. -- Two Fredonia State triple jumpers had solid performances Saturday at Cornell University's Deneault Memorial Invitational.

For the women, junior Jackie Majka (Depew) finished fifth in the event with a personal-best 10.62 meters. Meanwhile, junior Mike Kelley (Geneseo) soared 13.61 meters to finish sixth among the men.

"They both had excellent series," Fredonia State head coach Liz Aldrich said.

In other women's events, senior Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) was second in the shot put and third in the 20-pound weight throw with distances of 12.15 and 15.69 meters, respectively. Also, sophomore Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.41 seconds.

On the men's side, sophomore Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) finished fourth in the mile in 4:28.26, while sophomore Greg Craft (Cheektowaga/JFK) cleared 4.10 meters in the pole vault.

The Blue Devils' next meet is the SUNYAC Championships Saturday at Hobart and William Smith colleges.
