NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Three Fredonia State runners turned in personal-best performances in the 3,000 meters Friday at the New Balance Invitational.
Sarah Furman (West Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo), a junior, was timed in 10:34.8 in the women's 3K, while senior Tom Williams (Queensbury) and sophomore Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) ran 8:36.16 and 8:55.87, respectively, in the men's 3K on the banked New York Armory oval.
A large number of events are scheduled for Saturday, including the women's 20-pound weight throw at 9 a.m. Fredonia State senior Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) will compete against a field which includes several women from NCAA Division I schools. Hopson is an NCAA Division III All-American in the event.
