(ALL-SUNYAC TEAMS: Men/Women/Indoor Awards)
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State claimed two of the four outstanding athlete awards given annually at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field championship meet.
Senior jumper Jackie Majka (Cheektowaga/Depew) was named Most Outstanding Female Field Athlete for two firsts and one second at the conference meet Feb. 27. She was victorious in the high jump and the long jump, and was second in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, junior distance-middle distance runner Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) was named Most Outstanding Male Track Athlete. Guarino won two events, the mile and the 800 meters, and set meet records in each.
Majka and Guarino was also named First Team All-SUNYAC while sophomore distance-middle distance runner Eddie Novara (Angola/Lake Shore) made All-SUNYAC Second Team.
