Six Devil wins at Roberts Wesleyan

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State had six individual winners Saturday at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational.

Julia Hopson was a double winner with victories in the women's hammerthrow (48.10 meters) and the shot put (12.20 meters). The former was an NCAA provisional qualifying distance, while the latter put Hopson in the ECAC championship meet.

Kate Brett was a winner in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.23), an ECAC qualifying time, and was third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.65). Meanwhile, Jackie Majka won the high jump (1.50 meters) and wasa second in the long jump (5.12 meters).

On the men's side, Tom Williams won the 10,000 meters in ECAC qualifying time (31:59.76). Mike Kelley was the other Blue Devil winner, his in the triple jump (13.89 meters).

Eddie Novara was second in the 10K with an ECAC qualifying time (32:24.41), Nick Guarino was second in the 800 meters (1:55.18), and Josh Guarino third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:44.41). Also, Greg Craft cleared an ECAC qualifying heighth in the pole vault (4.20 meters), Carl Caughell put up an ECAC qualifying time in the 110 hurdles (:15.51), and Chris Walters ran a 15:48.02 in the 5,000 meters.
