CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State twin brothers Josh and Nick Guarino were winners Friday at a special distance-event meet at SUNY Cortland.

Josh Guarino set a meet record in winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His winning time was 9:35.71. Nick Guarino was victorious in the 1,500-meter run in 3:57.52, under three seconds faster than his previous best at the distance.

Two other Blue Devils competed at Cortland. Eddie Novara was seventh and Chris Walters 17th in the 5,000 meters. Their times were 15:14.99 and 15:52.37, respectively.

Blue Devils specializing in shorter-distance runs and field events will compete Saturday in the University at Buffalo Invitational.
