PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The only Division III athlete in the event, Fredonia State senior Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) finished sixth in the College division women's hammer throw Thursday at the 115th Penn Relays.

Hopson's 50.43 meters was better than three other women, representatives of N.C. State, Penn State, and Georgia Tech. Rhode Island's Jasmine Jennings won the event with a throw 58.00 meters followed by women from Georgia Tech, Connecticut, LSU, Temple, and then Hopson, who has already qualified in the event for the NCAA Division III championships May 21-23 at Marietta, Ohio.

Hopson was competing in the Penn Relays for the second time, the first time as a Blue Devil. She also competed while in high school.
