2010 ALL SUNYAC OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAM/MEET RECAP

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Six Fredonia State Blue Devils have been selected to the 2010 SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference Team.

A pair of juniors, Kate Brett (Webster/Webster Schroeder) and Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen), was First Team selections. Brett was a double winner at the SUNYAC championship meet held May 7 and May 8 at Brockport. She won the women’s 100-meter high hurdles and the women’s 400-meter intermediate hurdles, while Guarino was victorious in the men’s 800 meters.

Three Blue Devil men and one woman made the Second Team. On the men’s side, juniors David “Mac” McMahill (Hemlock/Livonia) and Greg Craft (Cheektowaga/JFK), and freshman Spencer Lefort (Java Center/Pioneer) were chosen. Sarah Furman (West Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo), a senior, was also a Second Team choice.

McMahill was second to Guarino in the men’s 800, Craft was second in the men’s pole vault, Lefort second in the men’s decathlon, and Furman second in the women’s 10,000 meters and seventh in the women’s 5,000 meters.

A handful of Blue Devil qualifiers are scheduled to participate in the ECAC Division III championships at Springfield (Mass.) College this Friday and Saturday.
