SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Fredonia State senior Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) defended her ECAC women's hammer throw Thursday at Springfield College.
Hopson's winning throw of 54.27 meters. "The event was held in the rain," Blue Devil head coach Liz Alrich said. "Her throw was very good given the conditions." It was Hopson's fifth ECAC title overall.
Sophomore hurdler Kate Brett (Webster/Webster Schroeder) also competed Thursday in the 100-meter high hurdles.
On Friday, Hopson will compete in the women's shot put, junior Jackie Majka (Depew) in the women's high jump, junior Mike Kelley (Geneseo) in the men's triple jump, and sophomores David "Mac" McMahill (Hemlock/Livonia) and Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) in the men's 800 meters.
