FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Two Fredonia State juniors will participate this week in the NCAA Division III Track and Field championship meet at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen), the men's mile champ at the NCAA indoor meet in March, is seeded third in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:48.74. The event trials, broken down into two heats, begin 4:35 p.m. Thursday. The top four in each heat and the next four fastest finishers will advance to the final at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Kate Brett (Webster/Webster Schroeder) is making her first appearance in a national meet. With a time of 62.94 seconds, she is among 22 national qualifiers in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Trials will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and are broken down into three heats; Brett is in the second heat. Eight women will advance the the final at 3:15 p.m. Saturday -- each heat winner plus the next five fastest finishers.
