(2009 ALL-SUNYAC OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD TEAM)

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Senior thrower Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) was named SUNYAC Women's Field Athlete of the outdoor season and was among five Blue Devils chosen All SUNYAC this spring.

Hopson was chosen for the annual Field Athlete award for defending her conference titles in the hammerthrow and the shot put at the SUNYAC outdoor championship meet May 1 at Oneonta. Her winning shot put of 12.94 meters provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III championship meet, while her season-best hammer of 55.70 meters exceeded her previous NCAA automatic qualifier. The national meet is May 21-23 at Marietta (Ohio) College.

Hopson was also chosen First Team All SUNYAC to join a quartet of teammates on the all-conference team. Jackie Majka (Depew), a junior, was made the Second Team for her 1.65-meter NCAA provisional high jump, good for second place in the conference.

On the men's side, sophomore David "Mac" McMahill (Hemlock/Livonia) was a First Team selection for winning at 800 meters, just ahead of fellow sophomore Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen). Guarino and sophomore Mike Hite (Hamburg), the second-place finisher in the javelin, made Second Team All SUNYAC.
