2010 SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field FINAL RESULTS

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder) was a double winner at the 2010 SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field championship meet this weekend.

Brett, a junior, was victorious in the women's 100-meter high hurdles (15.44 seconds) and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (1:03.02). She finished third in the shorter of the two races and fifth in the longer race at last year's championship meet. In addition, Brett moved up the NCAA provisional qualifying list in the 400-meter event.

The other individual winner for the Blue Devils was junior Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen), with a 1:58.92 in the men's 800 meters. He finished just ahead of teammate David "Mac" McMahill (Hemlock/Livonia), also a junior, in 1:59.80. 

Spencer Lefort (Java Center/Pioneer), a freshman, exceeded pre-meet expectations in the men's decathlon. Predicted to finish second by approximately 500 points, Lefort earned 5,174 points to second by 223 points behind Plattsburgh's Ben Depo. Lefort also finished third in the men's high jump by clearing 1.82 meters.

Other top finishers for Fredonia State included senior Sarah Furman (West Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo), second in the women's 10,000 meters (38:51.25) and seventh in the women's 5,000 meters (18:47.47); and junior Greg Craft (Cheektowaga/JFK), tied for second in the men's pole vault (4.25 meters).

Also, senior Jackie Majka (Cheektowaga/Depew), third in the triple jump (11.06 meters) and fourth in the long jump (4.95 meters); sophomore Eddie Novara (Angola/Lake Shore), fourth in the men's 5,000 meters (15:25.93); and senior Tom Williams (Queensbury), fourth in the men's 10,000 meters (32:07.58).

The Blue Devil men finished fifth and the women seventh in the final team standings.
