FREDONIA, N.Y. -- For leading her team to five wins last week, Fredonia State's Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph) has been named SUNYAC Player of the Week.
Erdmann, a junior middle blocker, hit .500 and led the Blue Devils in kills with 49 and in blocks with 11 in the five matches, including a 4-0 mark in SUNYAC West Division Pool Play. Her top performances last week: 20 kills, a .655 hitting percentage, and 8 digs in a 3-2 win against Penn State Behrend; 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Geneseo.
She is the third Blue Devil cited this fall. Sophomore libero Sarah Zureck (Lancaster/St. Mary's of Lancaster) and sophomore setter Brittany Lis (Lancaster) were cited Sept. 8 and Oct. 5, respectively. (See the complete list)
In other SUNYAC volleyball news, pairings for the conference tournament have been announced. Six teams are entered with the Blue Devils and tourney host New Paltz drawing first-round byes. The Blue Devils will play at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 vs. the winner of the Geneseo vs. Cortland quarterfinal match. The championship match is scheduled for Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. (See the full tourney schedule)
