POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Fredonia State extended its winning streak to 14 straight matches with two wins Friday at the Vassar College Invitational.
The Blue Devils improved to 23-10 with victories over Stevens Institute and Sage Colleges, 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.
Against Stevens, sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Senn (Hamburg/Frontier) had 11 kills, one solo block and two block assists. Sophomore setter Brittany Lis (Lancaster) was credited with 36 assists, and sophomore libero Sarah Zureck (Lancaster/St. Mary's of Lancaster) had 28 digs. Match scores favored the Blue Devils 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 20-25, and 15-10.
The Sage match saw the Blue Devils emerge with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-27, and 25-14 victory. Junior outside hitter Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph) had 11 kills, junior middle blocker Brittany Christian (Jamestown) four block assists, and senior middle blocker Jen Reese (Barton/Tioga) four block assists and and solo block. Also, Lis collected 30 assists and Zureck 19 digs.
The Blue Devils have two more matches Saturday -- 10 a.m. vs. host Vassar at 10 a.m., and noon vs. University of Rochester. They are the final regular-season matches prior to the SUNYAC Tournament next weekend at New Paltz.
