ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State lost to New Paltz, 3-1, before defeating Sage, 3-0, on the second day of the Nazareth College Golden Flyer Tournament.
Three Blue Devils (4-5) had nine kills each in the 22-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-17 loss to New Paltz: Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph), Rebecca Zimmerman (Jamestown), and Lindsay Olson (Portville). Brittany Lis (Lancaster) and Jessica Ernstberger (Rochester/Greece Arcadia) had 16 and 13 assists, respectively. Sarah Zurek (Lancaster/St. Mary's) collected 23 digs and had six service aces. Lis and Olson had 12 digs each. Audrey Zimmerman (East Aurora) added five service aces.
Fredonia State rebounded with a 25-10, 25-22, 25-9 victory over Sage. Lis was credited with 17 assists, Zureck with 11 digs, and Mallory Swanson (Jamestown) and Jen Reese (Barton/Tioga) with eight kills and seven kills, respectively.
The Blue Devils visit Allegheny College on Tuesday before participating in the RIT Tournament next weekend.
