ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Blue Devil volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Day 1 of the RIT Tournament. The Devils opened with a 3-2 loss to Rochester, and dropped the nightcap, 3-0, to Ithaca.
Against the University of Rochester, the Devils won the first two games, 25-16 and 25-12. Rochester bounced back to claim the final three, 25-21, 25-18 and 15-8. Becca Zimmerman (Jamestown/Jamestown) had 14 kills, and Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph/Randolph) and Lindsey Olson (Portville/Portville) had nine kills apiece. Danielle McNeil (West Seneca/St. Mary's) added 10 digs.
Ithaca swept the Devils 25-21, 25-12 and 25-21. Erdmann had seven kills, Brittany Lis (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 19 assists and Jennifer Micheleson (Lakeview/Frontier) had seven digs.
The Devils are 4-8 overall. In Day 2 of the tournament, they take on Oneonta in a non-SUNYAC matchup at noon, and finish up with an opponent to be determined.
