FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Geneseo Blue Knights downed the Fredonia State Blue Devils, 58-52, in Steele Hall on Tuesday.
Sierra Finch (Randolph) led the Devils with 16 points off the bench. She was four-for-four from three-point land. Katie Landy (Jamestown) added 10 points and eight boards. Nicole Calbi (Olean) had four assists and four steals.
Geneseo was paced by Bri Dunton with 14 points. Alyssa Polosky added 13, while Brittany Finkle had 11 off the bench. Khadija Campbell added 12 rebounds and four steals.
Geneseo led from the start and by as many as seven, 14-7, early in the half.
The Devils would take their first lead, 16-14, on a Landy layup at 7:58.
Geneseo would regain the lead and take a 22-20 advantage into the half. Landy paced the Devils with seven points and five rebounds. Finkle had eight off the Geneseo bench.
In the second half, the Devils would regain the lead at 12:57, 26-25, following a pair of free throws by Courtney Kingston (Geneseo).
From there, Geneseo would go on a 19-6 run to take their biggest lead of the game, 44-32, with 5:16 left to play.
The Devils would make a game of it, pulling within three, 49-46, at 1:40 following a Grace Moore (Fredonia) jumper.
Geneseo would answer right back with a three pointer from Dunton. After four consecutive points by the Devils, Geneseo would score the next six – all from the free throw line – to give them a 58-50 advantage. Moore added the final bucket for the Devils.
Geneseo improves to 10-6 overall and 6-3 in the SUNYAC.
For the Devils (8-7, 4-5 SUNYAC), it snapped their seven-game home win streak. They travel to Buffalo State on Friday.
