FREDONIA, N.Y.  -- Senior forward Lauren Heilweil (Binghmaton/Chenango Forks) dribbled the length of the field and scored late in the first overtime to carry Fredonia State past Oswego, 1-0, in SUNYAC action Saturday.

After her team successfully defended an Oswego corner kick, Heilweil gathered the ball from the top of the 18-yard box and dribbled around and through four Lakers to get off the game-winning shot at 98:58. It was her 10th goal of the season, her fourth to win a game. It was also the 33rd career goal and the 79th and 80th point as a collegian. Both numbers are Fredonia State career records.

Fredonia State freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros (Selden/Newfield) made six saves while posting her fourth shutout of the season and second of the weekend, including a 2-0 win Friday at Cortland. She lowered her goals-against average to 1.44.

Fredonia State owned a slim 13-11 edge in shot attempts. Laker goalkeeper Holly Lyndaker (Copenhagen, N.Y.) made six saves.

With the win, the Blue Devils moved into third place in the 10-team SUNYAC standings with a 4-1-0 conference record and 9-4-1 overall heading into a stretch of four straight conference home games to close out the regular season. Next up is Potsdam at 4 p.m. Oct. 16.

The Blue Devils trail conference leader Oneonta by three points and second-place Brockport by one point.

The loss dropped the Lakers into seventh place in the conference standings at 2-3-0 and 6-7-0 overall.
