FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State jumped to an early lead and never looked back while claiming a 4-0 SUNYAC home win over the Potsdam Bears at University Stadium.

It was Fredonia State's fourth straight victory and its sixth win in its last seven games. The Blue Devils improved to 10-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the SUNYAC, while the Bears fell to 6-7-1 overall and 0-7-1 in the conference.

Goals by sophomore forward Reilly Condidorio (LeRoy) and junior forward Julie LaPolla (Penfield) staked the Blue Devils in the first five minutes.

Freshman midfielder Michelle Diraimo (Webster/Webster-Thomas) and sophomore midfielder Julia Medwid (Alexander) added insurance goals in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils stymied the Potsdam offense throughout. The Bears were credited with three shots, one on goal. As a result, freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros (Selden/Newfield) received credit for her fifth shutout of the season.

The Blue Devils took 26 shots with Potsdam goalkeeper Sarah Casey (Potsdam) making seven saves in the first half and senior Nicole Volpi (Bethlehem) stopping three shots in the second half.

Condidorio opened the scoring at 1:38 into the game with a shot inside the box off a through ball from senior defender Gwen Curtis (Rochester/Greece Arcadia). It was Condidorio's ninth goal of the season.

The Blue Devils made it 2-0 at 4:45 when sophomore midfielder Emily Beh (Penfield) took a shot from the top of the top which was blocked by a Potsdam defender. The rebound went LaPolla, a fellow Penfield H.S. alum, who drilled a shot into the net from just inside the 18-yard-box for her seventh goal of the season.

Diraimo earned her first collegiate points with a goal to make it 3-0 at 68:49. She lofted the ball over the top of the goalkeeper following passes from Curtis and Beh. Medwid joined the scoring party with a long shot on the mark, assisted by junior forward Angela Beck (Randolph), at 82:26. It, too, was Medwid's first collegiate goal.

The Blue Devils are back in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon against Plattsburgh. Both teams are ranked in the most recent NCAA Division III East Region poll -- Plattsburgh at No. 9, the Blue Devils at No. 10. Game time is 1 p.m. at University Stadium.
