FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State remained in a two-way tie for first place in the SUNYAC despite its 3-0 home loss Friday to Brockport.

The Blue Devils fell to 6-2-0 in the conference (11-5-1 overall), as did Oneonta, which lost 2-1 to Cortland on Friday. The co-leaders play their final regular-season conference games Saturday -- Oneonta at home against Oswego at 1 p.m., the Blue Devils at 5 p.m. Saturday vs. Geneseo at University Stadium.

Brockport moved into third place, one point behind the conference leaders, with its impressive win. The Golden Eagles improved to 5-1-2 in the conference.

Jess Bush (Dryden) had a goal and an assist for Brockport. Her goal came 2:50 into the contest and proved to be the game-winner. Her assist came later in the first half on a goal by Abby Smith (Mexico) in the 25th minute. Jessica VanAllen (Chatham) added Brockport's third goal, from Rachel Murphy (Pittsford/Pittsford-Sutherland), 2:10 into the second half.

The Golden Eagles were playing against a mild wind in the first half. The wind picked up steadily and eventually combined with heavy rain for the final 25 minutes of the second half. The weather further stymied the Blue Devils, who took 11 shots in the first half but only three in the second. Brockport goaltender Erin Asquith (Arcade/Pioneer) was credited with eight saves to earn the shutout.

Fredonia State freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros (Selden/Newfield) was credited with five saves.

The loss ended a Blue Devils' winning streak which had reached five games, second longest in program history.
