FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Two late goals allowed Oneonta to overtake Fredonia State, 2-1, in SUNYAC women's soccer Friday.

The Red Dragons (5-1-1, 1-0-0 SUNYAC) tallied in the 80th and 85th minute to turn back the upset bid by the Blue Devils (4-3-1, 1-1-0 SUNYAC).

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 5:22 mark of the game on a goal by sophomore midfielder Melissa Cummiskey (Clarence), her third of the season. Freshman defender Madison Brown (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) picked up an assist for her long through ball from deep out of the defensive end.

The Red Dragons scored the equalizer with 10:28 remaining. Dana DeSimone took a shot at the net from the far right flank. Blue Devil freshman goalkeeper Meghan Meszaros (Selden/Newfield) made a play on the ball but it deflected off her hands and into the net.

Alicia Vollmer completed the Oneonta comeback with 5:11 left when she converted a rebound of a shot off the post by teammate Melissa VanderBergh.

Meszaros finished with eight saves while Oneonta's Jamie Chyat stopped two shots. The Blue Devils were outshot 23-5 and never took a corner kick compared to five by their opponent.

Oneonta, a past national champ in the sport, entered the season as the choice of conference coaches to win the SUNYAC title. The Blue Devils were picked for eighth; they were attempting to defeat the Red Dragons for only the second time. Oneonta owns a 15-1-1 advantage in the all-time series.

The Blue Devils visit New Paltz at 1 p.m. Saturday.
