FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta Red Dragons scored 8:51 into the first half and made the goal stand for the rest of their 1-0 SUNYAC road win over Fredonia State at University Stadium.

Senior forward Lindsey Brechbeil (Garnerville) headed in a corner kick by sophomore midfielder Caitlin Burke (Manorville) over the top of Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport). The ball barely crossed into the net, was batted back out, and play continued momentarily before the referee stopped play and awarded the goal.

The Blue Devils (5-4-0, 0-3-0) and Red Dragons (6-3-0, 3-0-0) played evenly the rest of the match as attested to some of the final numbers. The Blue Devils had 15 shots, to 17 for the Red Dragons. The teams took five corner kicks each.

Oneonta' sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Murphy (Pine City) earned the shutout win by making five saves. Scroger was credited with eight saves.

The Blue Devils take a break from SUNYAC action when Oberlin visits Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m. at University Stadium.
