FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Lauren Heilweil (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) scored her eighth goal of the season and Blue Devil-record 31st of her career leading the Devils to a 3-1 non-conference win over Westminster on Wednesday. The goal also gave Heiweil 75 points for her career, also a new Blue Devil standard.
The goal came on a crossing pass from Emily Beh (Penfield/Penfield) at 71:08. Heilweil's one-timer from five yards out beat Titan goalkeeper Jenn Cantella and gave the Devils a 3-1 lead.
Heilweil displaced Jessica Weiser (2005) as both the all-time points and goals leader.
Tied 1-all at the half, the Devils' Reilly Condidorio (Leroy/Leroy) scored the game-winner :24 seconds into the second half to put the Devils up 2-1. She lofted a shot from 10 yards out over Cantella's reach. It was Condidorio's fifth of the season. She was assisted by Gwen Curtis (Rochester/Greece Arcadia).
In the first half, which the Devils dominated, Westminster made use of its few opportunities, taking a 1-0 lead at 32:20. Tyler Dever lofted a shot from the right baseline, creating a jump-ball opportunity for Samantha Killmeyer. Killmeyer out-jumped Blue Devil goalkeeper Meghan Meszaros (Selden/Newfield) and headed the ball into the open net.
The Devils came roaring back less than a minute later, as Condidorio made a downfield pass to Julie LaPolla (Penfield/Penfield) who connected on a clear shot to the goal.
The Devils out-shot the Titans 12-2 in the first half, and 23-7 for the game. Cantella made 10 saves for the Titans, as Westminster dropped to 7-3 on the season.
Meszaros made three saves for the Devils.
Fredonia State improves to 6-3-1. They travel to Union College on Saturday.
