FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Freshman forward Reilly Condidorio (Leroy) had a goal and an assist as Fredonia State defeated Penn State Behrend, 2-1, in the final game of the Blue Devil Days Inn Classic.
Despite defeating both Grove City and Behend over two days, the Blue Devils (3-1-0) finished as runners-up to the University of Rochester based on goal-differential. The Yellowjackets (2-1-1) earned the top spot by defeating Behrend 5-1 and Grove City 5-0 on consecutive days.
Condidorio earned a spot on the all-tournament team with three goals and two assists in the Classic. She was joined on the team by fellow freshman and Blue Devil defenseman Lyz Dembrow (Lockport) and senior forward Mimi Blackman (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon).
After a scoreless first half, Condidorio gave her team a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute. She deked two defenders to get off her shot from right of the goal.
Again operating down the right side, Condidorio took a hard shot which Behrend's Kayla Frost (Venetia, Pa.) stopped, one of her three saves on the night. The rebound, however, went to sophomore midfielder Kayleigh Vogan (Macedon/Palmyra-Macedon), who one-timed the ball into the open left side of the net.
The Lions put the final outcome in doubt with a goal by Emily Lewis (Washington, Pa.) in the 86th minute following a short through ball from Glennis Robash (Mars, Pa.). It turned out to be the lone shot to elude senior goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport), who finished with two saves.
In addition to the three Blue Devils, the following players made the all-tournament team:
Rochester -- Sarah Goico (MVP), Ellen Coleman, Laura Bojyko, and Lindsay Rood.
Penn State Behrend -- Caitlin Elser and Kelly Thill.
Grove City -- Diana Pragel and Kristin Colley.
