MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y.  -- The Fredonia State men finished seventh and two team members made the Atlantic Regional team Saturday at Letchworth State Park.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devil women moved past two SUNYAC schools whom they finished behind at the conference championship meet Nov. 7.

Eddie Novara (Angola/Lake Shore), a sophomore, was 22nd and senior Tom Williams (Queensbury) 32nd among the 264 finishers in the men's race. The top 35 finishers make the all-regional team.

Novara was clocked in 25:46 over the dry and fast 8,000-meter course at Letchworth State Park. He still has a chance to qualify for the national meet Nov. 21. He will learn of his placement Sunday when the field is chosen.

Williams was timed in 26:08, while junior Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) was 53rd in 26:36, junior Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) 58th in 26:41, and junior Matt Kepler (Valley Cottage/Nyack) 68th in 26:49.

In the women's 6,000-meter race, freshman Nicole Bochman (Jamestown) was the top Blue Devil with a 54th place finish in 23:41. The next four Fredonia State women were sophomore Ashley Cocuzzi (Webster/Webster-Schroeder), 155th in 25:58; sophomore Shannon Gowen (Clarence), 159th in 26:05; junior Melinda Houle (Rochester/Greece Athena), 180th in 26:37; and junior Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder), 191st in 27:02.

The Blue Devils were 23rd out of 33 women's teams, and ahead of Buffalo State and Oswego, two teams that defeated Fredonia State during the SUNYAC meet at Cortland.
