HANOVER, Ind. -- Fredonia State junior Tom Williams (Queensbury) finished 83rd in a field of 278 at the NCAA cross country championship race at Hanover College on Saturday.
Williams finished in a time of 25:29.91 in the in the 8k course. Williams was the first Blue Devil to compete in the championship since James Sweeny in 2003. Sweeny finished 74th in a time of 26:26.3.
"Tom's time was nearly a minute faster than Sweeny's time, and he finished 74th in 2003," said head coach Jeff Beck. " It was a very fast course today. Tom had a very good time for his first meet at nationals. To finish in the Top 85 is huge."
