Cortland took the opener 11-0 and won the nightcap 4-1. Cortland starting pitcher Ryan Hooper went six innings and surrendered four hits while striking out six. He advanced his record to 5-0 on the season. Offensively, Will Groff was five for five for the Dragons. Ricky Piovesan had a homerun among his two hits. Mike Rosenberry and Dan Maycock also collected two hits each. Jimmy Dougher (6-0) continued Cortland's dominant pitching in game two. He didn't allow a hit through five innings, until Bryan Recchia doubled in the bottom of the sixth. Dan Murphy followed with an infield hit. Recchia would score on a Phil Gavin groundout for the Devil's only run of the day. Joe Webster gave the Devils a quality start on the mound. He scattered six hits over six innings while striking out five. He allowed all four runs. Groff and Maycock accounted for two hits each for Cortland. The Devils (7-18) travel to Oswego on Monday for a SUNYAC doubleheader with the Lakers beginning at Noon. Cortland (24-5) plays a non-conference matchup at the University of Rochester at 4:00 on Tuesday.
