The Devils took game one, 4-0, and won the nightcap, 8-4, to improve to 7-0 at Ludwig Field. Blue Devil starting pitcher Matt Saeva was the story of game one. The junior right-hander held Bradford to just four hits while striking out eight for the complete-game victory. He allowed one walk and just one hit after the second inning. The Devils were held scoreless until a three-run fourth inning. Lead off batter Kevin Malaney was hit by a pitch. Pete Lusk then reached on an error. Don Kirsch loaded the bases with a single up the middle. Following a strikeout, Jarrod Surine lined a two-run double. Joe Kephart followed with a sacrifice fly for the third run. Kirsch would add an insurance run in the fifth with a two-out single, scoring Dan Murphy. Cory Hochschild took the tough-luck loss for Bradford. He allowed only five hits while striking out four. Bradford took the early lead in game two. A run in the first and third innings gave them a 2-0 lead. Mike Seach scored from second on a fielder's choice as the Devils tried to turn a double play on a ball up the middle in the first. Landon Parker drove in Bradford's second run on a single in the third. A Malaney sacrifice fly in the third cut the deficit in half, making it 2-1 Bradford. The Devils bats would then stay silent until the sixth inning. Twelve batters made trips to the plate as the Devils scored seven runs to take an 8-2 lead. The inning was highlighted by a Jeremy Borst RBI double and two hits off the bat of Surine. Relief pitcher Jeremy Hulbert picked up the win for Fredonia State. He tossed the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and a pair of unearned runs in the seventh. Surine, Murphy, and Rob Herrmann each had a pair of hits for the Devils. Phil Solley had three hits for Bradford. The Devils, now 12-12, travel to Plattsburgh and SUNYIT this weekend for a quartet of conference games. The Devils are currently 4-2 and in second place in the SUNYAC. Bradford falls to 11-16 on the season. -------
