They then split a doubleheader at SUNYIT on Sunday, winning 14-7 before dropping the final game 12-11. The Devils are now 5-5 in conference play and 13-15 overall. Three of the Devils five conference losses are by a single run. In the weekend's opening game, the Devils took a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Plattsburgh bounced back with nine runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the game. Jordan Basile, Pete Lusk, Joe Kephart and Rob Herrmann each had a pair of hits for the Devils. The second game offered much more drama. Basile had a two-run single off Plaatsburgh ace Mike Kelley to give the Devils a 2-0 lead. Blue Devil starting pitcher Ricky Carlson would hold Plattsburgh scoreless until two out in the bottom of the seventh. With nobody on, Jared Jarvis and Crockett Pack would each single. John Campbell would double to send the game into extra innings. Plattsburgh's John Hughes singled to right field with two on and nobody out for the walk-off game-winning hit. The Devil would bounce back by ripping 17 hits in a 14-7 win over SUNYIT on Sunday. Winning pitcher Andy Dlugosz would toss seven innings of relief to earn the win. Herrmann had four hits and Pete Lusk and Dan Murphy had three apiece. Kevin Malaney connected for a solo home run. Again, game two would prove to be more dramatic. Six lead changes took place in the 12-11 SUNYIT victory. The Devils drew first blood. Don Kirsch connected for a bases-loaded triple in the first. SUNYIT bounced back with five runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. The Wildcats would build an 8-4 lead heading into the sixth. Thje Devils erupted for five runs in the top of the sixth. Basile and Jim Kunkemoeller each had two-run hits. Kephart drove in the other run as the Devils took a 9-8 lead. SUNYIT scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead, 10-9. The Devils bounced back again, as Jarrod Surine and Kephart each drove in a run in the seventh giving the Devils an 11-10 lead. Not to be outdone, SUNYIT scored twice in the seventh to claim the win. Kirsch paced the offense with a four for four performance. Surine and Herrmann had two hits apiece. For their remaining SUNYAC games, the Devils play host to Cortland -- who clinched the regular-season SUNYAC title -- at Ludwig Field on Saturday, and Oneonta on Monday. A sweep of Oneonta would clinch the Devils a SUNYAC playoff berth. The Devils are currently 7-0 at home. Next up for the Devils, however, is a non-conference double-dip vs. Medaille on Tuesday at Ludwig.
