The hits were less frequent in the second game as the Blue Devils (9-18, 4-6)dropped a 6-2 decision in 10 innings. The game was scheduled for seven innings. In the opener, Kevin Malaney (Amherst) had two homers and six RBI and Trey Johson (Gerry/Cassadaga Valley) had four hits, including a three-rin blast. Also homering for the Blue Devils were Kyle Adams (Naples) and Jim Kunkemoeller (West Seneca/St. Francis). Adams also scored four runs, while Kunkemoller had four RBI. Winning pitcher Noah Huard (Buffalo/City Honors) scattered 11 hits, including homers by Plattsburgh's Matt Dahlin (Cohoes/Stillwater) and Brandon Humphery (auburn/Port Byron). In the nightcap, the Blue Devils received solid starting pitching from Tom Hausler (Williamsville/Williamsville East) while Johnson delivered a clutch game-tying RBI single with two outs in the last of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Johnson later added his third hit of the game, but the Blue Devils were unable to push across another run. Meanwhile, the Cardinals (17-8, 3-3 SUNYAC) scored four funs in the top of the 10th off reliever Matt Bauman (Alden/St. Francis), who took over for Haulser after the latter pitched nine innings, scattered nine hits, struck out five, and allowed one earned run. An RBI double by Paul Strang (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson), a two-run single by Jared Jarvis (Mooers Forks/N.E. Clinton), and RBI single by John Campbell (East Patchogue/Bellport) Accounted for the Plattsburgh runs. Mike Austin(Buffalo/City Honors) had an RBI for the Blue Devils, who are back at home Sunday vs. SUNYIT.
