Dave Waldron's two-out, RBI single in the last of the ninth sent Plattsburgh to a walk-off win in the first game. Needing to win at least three of four games this weekend, the Blue Devils (9-22, 4-8 SUNYAC) fell behind early in the second game and never recovered. Down 4-0 in the opener, Fredonia State rallied four one run in the fifth and four in the eighth to forge a 5-5 tie. Kyle Adams (Naples/Naples), Mike Austin (Buffalo/City Honors), Bryan Recchia (Webster/Webster Schroeder), and Tom Butler (Verona/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) each had an RBI during the comeback. Adams (double) and Austin had two hits each. Craig Heath (Watkins Glen/Watkins Glen) took the loss after going 8 1/3 innings and allowed all six Plattsburgh runs on 11 hits. Noah Huard (Buffalo/City Honors) faced the final two hitters. In the second game, six errors led to the Blue Devils' demise. The Cardinals (20-11, 8-4) jumped on Fredonia State starter Tom Hausler (Williamsville/Williamsville East) for nine runs -- but only two of them earned -- in the first 2 2/3 innings. Offensively, eight Blue Devils had at least one hit, and Jordan Basile (Jamestown/Jamestown) had two. The hit by Matt Baudo (Buffalo/St. Joe's) was a triple. Baudo, Dan Mullen (Port Ewen/Kingston), and Reuben Kamp (Ithaca/Ithaca) had RBI. The Blue Devils were scheduled to complete the SUNYAC portion of their season with a doubleheader Sunday at Utica vs. SUNYIT, but those games have been postponed. No makeup date has been announced.
