They dropped Game 2 by a score of 10-6. In th opener, the Blue Devils cut their deficit to 3-1 with an unearned run in the fourth inning. Jordan Basile walked to start the inning, went to second on a single by Don Kirsch, to third on a double-play groundout, and scored on an infield error. A four-run sixth inning after two were out spelled Medaille's undoing. Jim Kunkemoeller singled, Pete Lusk singled, and Rob Herrmann doubled in two runs to forge a 3-3 tie. A wild pitch and a walk to Jeremy Borst put runners on first and third. When Borst broke for second on a delayed steal, Herrmann broke for home and slid in ahead of the tag. A pair of wild pitches allowed Borst to advance to third and then home with the fifth Blue Devil run. Matt Bauman scattered five hits and allowed one earned run over the first six innings to improve to 2-3. Tom Hausler pitched a scoreless inning of relief for his first save of the season. Game 2 saw the Devils jump out to an early 2-0 lead. An RBI single by Jarrod Surine and a bases loaded walk to Brian Bongiovanni accounted for the runs. Medaille bounced back with three runs in the second and two more in the third to take a 5-2 lead. Three Devil errors aided Medaille's offense. The Devils would score a run in the fourth. Bongiovanni doubled. Josh Greco would reach first on an error and advance Bongiovanni to third. He would score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Joe Kephart. The pesky Devils tied the game in the fifth, 5-all. Kevin Malaney doubled. Rob Herrmann followed with another double to score Malaney. Jarrod Surine then drove home Herrmann with a base hit. Medaille would take control of the game with four runs in the sixth, highlighted by Dustin Hartman's three-run home run. Both teams would score once in the seventh to give the 10-6 final. Bongiovanni, a Fredonia High grad, led the Devil offense with a pair of doubles on the afternoon. The loss snapped an eight-game home win streak for the Devils. They stand at 14-16 on the season. Next up is a road doubleheader at Grove City on Thursday. Medaille moves to 12-17 on the season. -------
