The Devils won the opener 11-7. Down 5-1 in the sixth, Pete Lusk connected on a two-out, based-loaded triple to bring the Devils within one run. The Devils would tie things in the seventh. Dan Murphy led off with a single and would score on Bryan Recchia's double. Medaille would eventually win it in the 12th inning. Jeremy Callahan connected on a one-out single. Callahan would steal second and advance to third on a wild pitch. After a groundout, he would score on a Tom Lyman bunt single. Jim Kunkemoeller led the Blue Devils with three hits. Shane Morrison and Jordan Basile had two hits each. Lyman had three hits and Kevin Voelker had two hits for the Mavericks. Lyman would also earn the win on the mound with four innings of scoreless relief. Shawn Ridgway took the loss for Fredonia, going six innings and surrendering six hits. In game one, Medaille's Rich Urbanczyk connected for a homerun to open the second inning. The Devils would answer in the third, as Murphy plated Mike Austin with an RBI single. Medaille scored three times in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Blake Nusbaum and Tom Wasielewski had RBI singles. The Devils would break the game open in the fifth. Four hits and three Medaille errors led to seven runs and an 8-4 lead. Basile drove in the final two runs with an RBI single. Fredonia State tacked on three more in the sixth. Matt Baudo had a two-run double, and then scored on Basile's RBI triple. On the mound, Kevin Maluchnik suffered the loss for Medaille. Jeremy Clark picked up the win, going 6 2/3 innings for the Devils, surrendering four earned runs. The Devils (10-23) travel to Utica on Saturday to play SUNYIT in the final conference games of the season. They will finish up the 2006 schedule with a home doubleheader versus Penn State Behrend at 1:00 on Sunday.
