The Blue Devils (12-21, 6-8 SUNYAC) also dropped the second game, 6-1. Fredonia State pounded out 16 hits in the first game and led most of the game until Oneonta pushed across the tying run in the last of the eighth. The Blue Devils recaptured the lead in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Phil Gavin (Rochester/Greece Olympia). The Red Dragons loaded the bases with no outs in the last of the seventh and proceeded to score the tying run on a wild pitch and the winning run on an infield grounder. Kevin Malaney (Amherst) led the Blue Devil offense with four hits, three runs scored, and two RBI while Trey Johnson (Gerry/Cassadaga Valley) had three hits and four RBI. Jim Kunkemoeller (West Seneca/St. Francis) chipped in with three hits while Rob Hermann (Trumansburg) and John Hamilton (Frewsburg) had two hits each. In the nightcap, the Blue Devils were limited to five hits, two each by Jordan Basile (Jamestown) and Hamilton, with the latter picking up the only RBI. The Blue Devils are scheduled to close out their regular season with a home game Sunday vs. Penn State Behrend.
