Huard goes route as Devils split

UTICA, N.Y. -- Sophomore right-hander Noah Huard (Buffalo/City Honors) pitched a complete-game in the first part of a doubleheader Saturday vs. SUNYIT.

Huard struck out six and took a shutout into the seventh inning in the eventual 6-2 win by the Blue Devils (11-24, 5-9 SUNYAC).

Junior Bryan Recchia (Webster/Webster-Schroeder), sophomore Jim Kunkemoeller (West Seneca/St. Francis), senior Matt Baudo (Buffalo/St. Joe's), and freshman Jordan Basile (Jamestown/Jamestown) had two hits each for Fredonia State.

In the nightcap, the Blue Devils were guilty of six errors -- leading to nine unearned runs -- in a 10-4 loss. Baudo had three hits, Kunkemoeller and senior Shane Morrison (Elmira/Notre Dame) two hits, and junior Trey Johnson (Gerry/Cassadaga Valley) homered in the loss.

Junior right-hander Joe Webster (East Aurora/Iroquois) was the losing pitcher.

The Blue Devils close out the regular season with a doubleheader Sunday vs. Penn State Behrend beginning at 1 p.m.
