Season ending win

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Blue Devils took game two of a home doubleheader, 13-12, to claim a split with Penn State Behrend in their season-ending series.

Behrend claimed a 12-6 victory in the opener.

In the nightcap, the Devils rallied from down three runs, 12-9, for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take lead. Rob Herrmann had a two run single. Sam Tuzzeo and Jordan Basile drove in a run apiece.

Freshman Tommy Adams pitched a scoreless seventh for his first collegiate win.

The Devils rapped out 16 hits in the game. Basile, Bryan Recchia and Jim Kunkemoeller each had three hits.

In the first game, the Devils scored four runs in the first -- three coming on a home run off the bat of Kunkemoeller. Dan Murphy added an RBI single.

The lead would hold up until the fourth, when Behrend's Steve Fyffe connected on a two-run homer to make it 4-2. Brian Hart added a two-run double in the fifth to tie it at 4-all.

Behrend took the lead, 5-4, in the sixth on a Gabe Stephenson home run. The Devils bounced back to take a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a Kevin Malaney two-run single. The Lions would go on to break the game open with seven runs in the seventh to give the 12-6 final.

Kunkemoeller led the Devils with four hits in the game.

The Blue Devils complete their season at 13-22. Behrend now stands at 25-10.
