Herrmann named All Region
Kirsch nabs Gold Glove Award

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State sophomore catcher Rob Herrmann (Trumansburg) was named Second Team All New York Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Monday. In addition, fellow sophomore Don Kirsch (Attica) was recognized with an ABCA Gold Glove Award.

Herrmann batted .395 with 47 hits in 35 games. He totaled 11 doubles and 26 RBI. Defensively, he threw out 14 of 32 would-be base stealers. An All SUNYAC selection in 2007 and 2008, Herrmann will play this summer with the New York Collegiate Baseball League's Allegany Nitros.

Kirsch had a stellar year defensively. After shifting to third from right field in the team's second game, Kirsch was a mainstay at third base for the Devils. The rangy sophomore commited only five errors in 35 games for the Devils.

In addition, Kirsch was no slouch at the plate. He posted a .347 average, collecting 42 hits in 121 at bats.
