Bauman named an All Star

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Senior Matt Bauman spent the summer competing for the Weyburn Beavers of the Western Major Baseball League in Canada. The left-handed pitcher was named to the league's all star team at the conclusion of the season.

Bauman appeared in 23 games loggin 42 2/3 innings. He posted a 1.90 ERA, ranking second in the league. He struck out 30 batters, while yielding only 11 walks and 35 hits.

The Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) is Canada’s pre-eminent summer collegiate baseball league, dating back to 1948. The wood bat league has a tradition of showcasing top college prospects from both sides of the border and routinely has players being drafted by Major League Baseball each year.

Bauman had competed for the Orlando Hammmers of the Florida Collegiate Summer League in the summer of 2006, where he also was named an all star.
