The Devils took the opener 17-3 behind the four-hit pitching of Bret McCabe (Buffalo/St. Francis). He was backed up by 21 hits off the Blue Devil bats. Scott Herdzik (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) led the way with four hits, including a first-inning home run. Jared Ochs (Waterloo/Waterloo) homered and doubled, and Trey Johnson (Gerry/Cassadaga Valley), Kyle Adams (Naples/Naples), Donnie Burch (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford), and Lockhart all had two hits.Tom Collins led D'Youville with three hits. Bob Jones absorbed the loss. The Blue Devils stayed hot in the nightcap, pounding out 22 more hits in a 16-3 victory in support of freshman Joe Webster (Elma/Iroquois), who earned his first college win. Webster struck out seven in four innings and allowed one run, before giving way to Mike Munski (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta). McCabe, Herdzik, and Phil Gavin (Rochester/Greece-Olympia) each collected three hits apiece. John Sellmeyer (Syracuse/East Syracuse Minoa),McCabe and Lockart all homered.
