Blue Devils return winless from Florida
FT. PIERCE, Fla. – Game 1- Fredonia State dropped the opening game of its Florida trip versus Geneva College by a score of 14-4.
The Blue Devils were held to five hits in the contest. Fredonia's Tim Lockhart hit a two-run homerun to lead the offense.
Pitcher Brandon Miller suffered the loss on the mound to drop to 1-1 on the season.
Game 2 - Earlham College used a nine-run second inning to jump ahead of Fredonia State en route to a 19-2 win.
Lockhart had two hits and two RBI’s for Fredonia State. Earlham's offensive output was aided by four Blue Devil errors as Donny Burch
took the loss on the mound.
Game 3 - Fredonia State’s late-inning rally fell short as Principia College defeated the Blue Devils 3-2. Scott Herdzik
and Kyle Adams each had two hits for Fredonia in the loss. Pitcher Brett McCabe took the loss despite pitching effectively. He
allowed six hits and two earned runs in six innings of work.
Game 4 - Grinnell College pushed across four runs in the sixth inning to erase Fredonia State’s 3-1 lead en route to a 6-3 win.
Shane Morrison led the Blue Devils with three hits, while Adam Fusco and Mike Austin each had a pair of safeties. Mike Munski
allowed three runs on three hits in five innings to suffer the hard-luck loss for Fredonia.
Game 5 – Fredonia State was held to just four hits as Grinnell defeated the Blue Devils 3-0. Adams allowed 5 hits and
2 earned runs, while striking out 7 for Fredonia. Morrison had two hits and added a stolen base to pace the Blue Devil
attack.
Game 6 – Fredonia State closed out its Florida schedule with an extra innings 15-10 loss to Principia College. Tied 10-all
in the ninth, Principia pushed across five runs to give the final. The Blue Devils proved to be their own worst enemy as only
three of Principia's 15 runs were earned. The Blue Devil bats pounded out a season-best 13 hits. Morrison, Herdzik,
Lockhart, Burch, and Trey Johnson each had multi-hit games. David Tubbs took the loss for Fredonia State.
