New Paltz sweeps Fredonia State conference opener

New Paltz, N.Y. – Fredonia State opened it’s conference season with two losses to New Paltz. The Blue Devils dropped the first game 6-3, as New Paltz centerfielder Jeff Cote hit two homeruns to lead the Hawks. Fredonia State was led on offense by designated hitter Shane Morrison who had two hits and an RBI. Kyle Adams allowed 5 earned runs on 6 hits to take the loss.

The second game of the doubleheader saw Fredonia State carry a 6-2 lead into the eighth inning when New Paltz answered with five runs on its way to a 8-6 victory. Brett McCabe hit a two-run homerun and finished the game with two hits. Brandon Miller, Scott Herdzik and Kyle Adams also had two hits for Fredonia. Mike Munski allowed one earned run on five hits in six innings of work for Fredonia State.
