![]() Sports Information Department – 112 Dods Hall CONTACT:Matt Palisin, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEBaseballPair of players ink summer contractsFREDONIA, N.Y. – Kyle Adams (Naples/Naples) and Trey Johnson (Gerry/Cassadaga Valley) have inked contracts to play for a pair of elite amateur summer league teams. Adams will participate for the New York Collegiate Baseball League's (NYCBL) Geneva Red Wings. The league consists of players from around the country, including many players who will be drafted over the next couple of years. This year's team boasts players from the Universities of Kansas, Toledo, Central Michigan and Buffalo, to name a few. Past players that have made it to the major leagues include Tim Hudson (Braves), Scott Sauerbeck (Indians) and Greg LaRocca (Padres). Adams played rightfield for the Blue Devils this past season and as well as having made four appearances on the mound. In his two seasons at Fredonia, Adams has appeared in all 70 games. He currently ranks 11th on the school's all time doubles list after only two seasons. The NYCBL is a wood-bat league sponsored by Major League Baseball. The season opens on June 10. He was Fredonia State's leadoff hitter and centerfielder and had started a pair of games on the mound. The AIA team will play in Toulouse, France; Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic; and Munich and Kaiserslautern, Germany. The team will spend about two months in Europe playing 31 games in addition to doing community service and spreading the Christian Ministry, part of AIA's goal. Johnson left from Buffalo on May 28.
