Medaille slips past Devils

Elizabethtown women, Mt. Union men winners

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A first half goal by Medaille's Danielle Radlich would hold up as the Mavericks spoiled the Devil's debut in its new stadium with a 1-0 victory.

Radlich scored at the 12:16 mark on an assist from Melyssa Tollar. Mattea Hessner earned the shutout in goal for the Mavericks with 10 saves.

The Devils held a decided advantage in shots, 30 to eight, and corner kicks, 17 to two, but could not produce a score. Becky Scroger made six saves in goal for the Devils who fall to 1-2 on the season. Medaille improves to 3-0-1.

In other action, Elizabetown defeated Mt. Union 2-0. Brooke Dotterer and Jenna Russo each found the net in the first half. Elyse Carabello assisted on Russo's goal.

Lindsey Butler earned the shutout victory for Elizabethtown with two saves.

On the men's side, Mt. Union downed Penn State Altoona 1-0 with a late goal. Eric Gorman scored in the 85th minute on an assist from Axel Sandoval. Matt Mazzolini mades seven saves in earning the shutout.

The Days Inn Tournament continues on Saturday. On the women's side, Medaille and Mt. Union square off at noon. Fredonia State and Elizabethtown go at 2 p.m. For the men, Penn State Behrend and Mt. Union play at 3 p.m. Penn State Altoona nad Fredonia State play at 4 p.m.
