Sophomore forward Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio) had a five-point game and junior forward Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, Mo.) netted two goals and had two assists for the Blue Devils (7-5-2). In its first game since Dec. 10, Fredonia State outshot the Wildcats (3-9-0) in every period and had a 45-19 advantage by the end of the game. Senior goaltender Rick Cazares (San Jose, Calif.) made 18 saves to earn his fifth win of the season. Johnson & Wales sophomore goaltender Charlie Bacon (Hudson, Mass.) made 38 saves. Freshman forward Bryan Goudy (Port Huron, Mich.) opened the scoring at 7:15 of the first period, and senior forward Jim Gilbride (Parma, Ohio) made it 2-0 just 14 seconds later. Johnson and Wales cut its deficit to 2-1 on an unassisted power-play goal by freshman forward Dave Notartomaso (Winchester, Mass.) at 9:46 of the first period. Fredonia State quickly regained momentum. Bozoian scored at 14:26 and junior forward Joe Muli (Sioux Lookout, Ont.) made it 4-1 at 19:35 of the first period. Junior forward Kraig Kuzma (Muskegon, Mich.) and Bozoian had power-play goals in the second period. Sheehan closed out the scoring at 12:16 of the third period with another power-play goal.
