Fredonia State got out to an early lead when Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, Mo.) scored a power play goal at 6:24. He was assisted by Scott Bradley (Belleville, Ont.) and Neal Sheehan (Avon Lake, Ohio). Brockport tied it up at 4:53 in the second period when freshman BJ Quinto (King City, Ont.) scored on a power play with assists coming from Greg Schwind (Hilton, N.Y.) and Mike Gershon (Sparta, N.J.). Fredonia State then took a 2-1 lead -- a lead they would not relinquish -- when junior Kraig Kuzma (Muskegon, Mich.) scored his fourth goal of the season at 12:44 in the second period. Assisting Kuzma were Steve Albert (Port Huron, Mich.) and Will Barlow (Oakville, Ont.). At 15:23 of the second period, a fight broke out after Brockport goalie Devin Ramasawamy (Willowdale, Ont.) was slashed. Three Brockport players were disqualified as a result, including Ramasawamy, David Dufresne (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Gordon Pritchard (Yorkton, Sash.). Fredonia State's Tom Briggs (Fruitport, Mich.) and Evan DiValentino (Burlington, Ont.) were also disqualified. The Blue Devils scored two more goals in the third period. Junior Joe Muli (Sioux Lookout, Ont.) added an unassisted shorthand goal at 7:58. Barlow added a score to earn his second point in the game off a Jim Gilbride (Parma, Ohio) assist at 13:10. Overall, Brockport only converted one of seven power plays while Fredonia converted just one of five. Fredonia State senior goalie Rick Cazares (San Jose, California) stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced to earn the win in goal. It was the second time he has beaten Brockport this year, last time earning a shutout in a 3-0 victory during the SUNYAC challenge. The loss dropped Brockport to 0-7-0 (0-3-0). Fredonia State will meet Geneseo Saturday at Steele Hall in another SUNYAC matchup. Geneseo (5-1-1, 2-1-0 SUNYAC) slipped by Buffalo State 5-4 in overtime on Friday. Athletics Home | Fredonia Home
